why whereabouts publishes its prices
We publish our rates. That’s kind of the whole thing. But for the sake of this blog post being more than just those two sentences, I’ll delve a bit into the nuance, because this one is coming straight from the founder’s mouth.
I’m not one for corporate bullshit. It’s not really my style. So, when I have to send five emails, beg an Account Manager, and call a whole ass CEO just to get the price for one hour of a vendor’s time, it makes me…frustrated. I have been the client, and I have been the corporate vendor. To be fair, I don’t envy either side of the equation, but I know that I can solve at least some of the back and forth tomfoolery by, you know, publishing our pricing. So, I do. I publish our pricing.
Continuing to maintain opacity in pricing only serves to slow down the process for every single person and company involved. I’m not into that. If you think my pricing is too low, then I’m not the right fit for you. If you think my pricing is too high, then I’m not the right fit for you. Let’s find that out early. Let’s give ourselves the opportunity to discuss, and, if necessary, refer out. Let’s be honest. Let’s be open. Let’s not waste our undoubtedly valuable time.
You’ll find our Blended Rate, Committed Hours pricing, and even discount percentages for qualified firms right on our pricing page. That’s right, we have a whole page dedicated to pricing. And I won’t pretend like that’s not a little bit terrifying. As it turns out, living your values is kind of scary. For the sake of living these aforementioned values, we also publish our compensation. Granularly. With title, specialization bumps, and explicit ranges for every single level. We even publish future executive’s pay, which is the same across the board for all execs, even me.
So, go ahead, do the calculations on profit margin. Figure out how to undercut us. I don’t mind. From risk there is often ample reward. And at whereabouts, we aren’t averse to risk (and most certainly not to reward).
